Board of Directors


The Penn State Student Radio Alumni Interest Group (SRAIG) was founded in 2005 by the late Robert K. Zimmerman, who served as our first president. The SRAIG exists as an affiliate of the Penn State Alumni Association.

The SRAIG Board of Directors, and the executive officers charged with carrying out the day-to-day operations of the alumni interest group, are governed by the SRAIG Constitution & Bylaws.

Tom Shakely joined The LION 90.7fm in 2006 as an on-air personality and Financial Director, securing a $30,000 operational budget in his first fiscal year and assisting with a thorough audit of the station. As Vice President & Program Director in 2007, he spearheaded a complete overhaul of the station’s physical plant, oversaw a comprehensive disc-jockey training program and managed all staff affairs. As President & General Manager, he improved the station’s community outreach and sales efforts, upgraded its web architecture and identified new talent, including current President & General Manager Zach Zimbler.

As SRAIG Vice President for Development, he is tasked with developing and executing effective fundraising efforts to establish and build the group’s permanent endowment. He is Web Editor for The Philadelphia Bulletin, a columnist on higher education, and contributor to American Solutions.

Zach Zimblerzzimbler@theLION.fm (Non-Voting Seat, President & General Manager of The LION 90.7fm)

Zachary Zimbler is the current President & General Manager for The LION 90.7fm. He is a sophomore preparing to double major in Supply Chain Management and Information Sciences and Technology. Practically from birth Zach has been a Penn Stater and has spent a majority of his life living in State College. As a current student at the University, Zach also serves as Phi Chi Theta’s web chairman and was an active member of SPANK, Penn State Men’s Ultimate Club, in ‘08-’09.

Other notable achievements are earning the highest honor in Boy Scouts of America, Eagle Scout and performing in Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium with the State College Master Singers, St. Luke’s Orchestra under the direction of Craig Jessop, previously director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
